How It Works: Applied Science In MeasurementThe optical filter on the KJT-200 analyzer utilizes wavelengths of light that are either absorbed by moisture (e.g. 1200, 1450, and 1940 nm) and wavlengths that are not absorbed by moisture ( e,g, 1300 nm). The light is then reflected off the surface of a sample, and the absorption and reflection is measured by a detector (PbS). The ration of the absorbed light to the reference light is proportional to the moisture content.
